Katie is a food-obsessed illustrator with a passion for designing fun, fabulous and cheeky greeting cards. A scenic artist pre-pandemic, Katie found joy in turning her focus to food at a time when ‘What should I have for dinner tonight?’ was the most exciting question we had to answer! She now spends her time creating original gouache paintings and digital art of food to use in her greeting cards, selling directly to customers and offering her designs wholesale to shops far and wide.
Before
Katie originally created her website herself on web builder WIX, but found there were a lot of technical issues she couldn’t fix, like glitchy, overlapping elements when navigating on mobile and empty space that ended up looking like elements weren’t loading. The design didn’t feel very professional and lacked her brilliant personality. There was so much information, that Katie’s website felt overwhelming and difficult to understand and lacked an area for trade/wholesale customers to buy her products, which is a large part of her business.

The client wanted:
A professional, cheerful website that works seamlessly
Katie’s dream was to have a website that looked and felt professional, without glitches and was easy to navigate for both her direct and wholesale customers.
After
Katie’s website was begging for the cheeky personality and cheerful design from her cards, so I did exactly that! I used a font very similar to her own handwriting and used her designs as backgrounds wherever I could. I took time researching the best way to add a wholesale section to her WIX website and set up a new trade page that connects to a wholesale enquiry form and Faire (wholesale platform). I also created a clear hero section on the homepage so that customers knew right away what made her business unique, what she offered and added a block to highlight her bestsellers.
Now Katie has:
